In 1993, I told some friends a story, in which I pulled my little cousin out of my family's pool after he jumped in without a floatation device. It prompted one of my classmates to refer to me as Super Bruce. It didn't take me long to draw up that character, and start dreaming up adventures for him.

For a while, I continued to draw adventures for Super Bruce, but after time I wanted to transform him into a "real" Super Hero. I tried a couple of different names, but nothing really stuck. Then, one day in 1994, I noticed the Super Bruce logo sort of resembled a keystone. (Living in the "Keystone State," I was pretty familiar with what they looked like.) So, I designed a stylized logo, and "Keystone" was born.

However, for years, Keystone never had any scripted adventures... just doodles in my notebook. In 2000, that changed. After creating my comic strip, "Sinking Ship" I decided to try another comic. So, I trotted out Keystone for a comic strip submission to the national syndicates. That was followed in 2002 with a webcomic (a rather serious affair), in 2003 with another comic strip (this one was made into a comic book), and finally in 2005 with another webcomic (one that returned to it's comedy roots.)
