Sometimes, when I look back on a comic
project, it's hard to remember all of the hours I must have put into it. I remember
drawing it, and in the case of "Sketchbook," I remember drawing it a
lot. But, man I cranked out a lot of strips in a short amount of time. I worked
on "Sketchbook" from the end of 2002 until the spring of 2003. Looking
back on it now, I had a lot of strips in this one that I really enjoyed. But,
it too fell victim to the syndication gods, and it's now a part of history. Perhaps,
if I was as dedicated to webcomics as I am now, maybe it would have survived.
But, "Chalkdust" became a worthy successor. Fun fact, "Chalkdust"
was actually created first, but when I moved to Maryland, it was put on the back
burner... and instead of picking up where I left off, I created "Sketchbook.
It was only later, after I moved to Harrisburg that "Chalkdust was resurrected..
As an "homage" of sorts, some of the "Sketchbook" strips are
now "Chalkdust" strips. So, if you see some that are a bit familiar,
that's why.
Also, the characters of Grant,
Molly and Lightbulb are a bit older here than they are in "Chalkdust"
While, in CD they're about 12 years old, here they're about 16 (that's why they
have jobs at a supermarket)
