"Tumblers" was the comic
strip in which Grant first appeared. It set the stage for both "Chalkdust"
and "Sketchbook." There's also a bit of history behind this one... I
remember I finished my first batch of 24 strips while still in college. In fact,
I took them on to campus to photocopy them the evening of September 10, 2001.
We all know what happened the next morning. Being in the broadcast news industry
(at the time I was a freelancer for a TV station about a half hour from my school)
I was consumed with news for the next six months or so. I didn't submit "Tumblers"
for syndication until January of 2002. Obviously, it didn't make it. But, it's
now a very integral part of my cartooning history.
